Hotel in Cairo

The down town is the best option to stay in Cairo, since the most touristic points of the city are located. You will have options of hotels of different categories, it is also an area with a wide variety of restaurants and museums, a lot of atmosphere, with a lot of nightlife.

Cairo is surely one of the cities in Egypt where it can be more difficult to choose where to sleep, since it is gigantic. In Addition to the center of the city, both the Cornice area, Al Gezira Island or Zamalek are very quiet areas and the ones we also recommend

Our hotel selection your you:

Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza: Unrivaled luxury overlooking the Nile.

Kempinski Nile Hotel: A premium pick with a convenient location.

Steigenberger Hotel El Tahrir: Great value option in the heart of downtown.

Tahrir Plaza Suites:   Nice, clean hotel, good value for money and located near Tahrir Square.

VG Hotel Cairo:  Simple hotel but good value for money and location.

If you want to stay close to the Pyramids, you may stay in Giza. We have accommodation options, luxury and cheaper, near the pyramids, and some of these options are hotels that have amazing views of the pyramids.

Hotel in Gyza:

Cleopatra Pyramids View – We stayed at this hotel, but it was much older than it looks in the photos. Of course, the views from the room were incredible. On the terrace they have a restaurant where you can have a drink and enjoy the views. It is right next to the famous Pizza Hut.

Pyramids Valley Boutique Hotel:  We definitely recommend this much nicer and cleaner hotel, with great views of the pyramids. We visited this hotel in person for group travel and it was perfect.

Comfort Inn Giza: We also saw this hotel and it caught our attention because of the views, but we cannot give an opinion because we were not there.

Marriott Mena House Hote: If you want to treat yourself, this is your hotel without a doubt. An authentic experience.

Alexandria:

Zones and districts of Alexandria

Alexandria Center. The heart of the city and an area close to the airport, the train station and the port, which makes it the nerve center with many shops, Mediterranean food restaurants and the best transport connections. Here are the Alexandria Museum and the new Library of Alexandria with an important collection of books, exhibition halls and art galleries.

Kafr Abdou. An upper-class district, famous for its cafes and tree-lined streets. Here the working life of Alexandria is concentrated with offices and embassies, and the religious life with churches and mosques. Here are also located the Kafr Abdou Community Garden (Allenby), the Al-Salam Theatre, Stanley Bridge and the tombs of Mustafa Kamel, from the 2nd and 3rd centuries BC.

The Raml. It brings together a good number of restaurants, shopping centers, offices and mosques. It is a very busy area with good transport connections. It houses the Mahmoud Said Museum, with works by one of the best artists of the 20th century in Egypt.

Al Mamurah. Quiet and residential area, very familiar and with quiet beaches and peaceful gardens. It also has elegant cafes and a wide variety of restaurants. Ideal to enjoy the sunsets and ride a bike on the beach.

Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria at San Stefano: Luxury with spectacular views of the Mediterranean.

If you want to feel for a few days like Howard Carter announcing to the world the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb, your choice is Sofiter Winter Palace. Mövenpick Resort Aswan: Luxury accommodation on Elephantine Island.

Most tourists make the day trip from Aswan and the temple is very crowded. If you stay the night, you can visit it in the afternoon when everyone has left, enjoy the night show and also, if you feel like it, you can see it at dawn before all the tourists arrive again.

It is a 100% recommendable experience.

Seti Abu Simbel Lake Resort: Luxury resort near the temples.

Nefertari Hotel Abu Simble: Good value option close to the temples.

Eskaleh Nubian House: Small hotel with an authentic atmosphere.

Sharm El Sheikh:

After visiting the Pyramids of Giza, visiting the main temples of Egypt and taking a cruise on the Nile, the body needs to rest and that is what Sharm El Sheikh proposes to do. If you add to that relaxation the possibility of enjoying colorful and lively reefs in the Red Sea, the success is even greater.

Packed with resorts, water parks and shops, it's hard to believe that Sharm El Sheikh was once a small fishing village on the Sinai coast. Today it is a completely safe destination and one of the most popular within the tourist circuit in Egypt

Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh: Luxury resort overlooking the Red Sea.

Renaissance Sharm El Sheikh Golden View Beach Resort: Central location with access to the beach.

Novotel Sharm El Sheikh: Affordable option in Naama Bay.

Siwa:

Another place that will surprise you and love is the Siwa oasis. A place where you can completely disconnect from the world and enjoy one of the most authentic and unknown areas of Egypt.

Sleep in Siwa: Charming and cozy house, where you can breathe a special atmosphere. The unbeatable price with good local breakfast included. We recommend this accommodation 100% if you travel to Siwa.

Qasr Salam: This hotel looks very good and is more central.

Quick Travel guide to Egypt

Some tips to enjoy your travel to this amazing destination and how to choose your Hotel.

Visa and travel requirements:

If you're planning an adventure in the land of the pharaohs, there are a few key things to keep in mind.

Do you need a visa to enter Egypt?
Pay attention to these tips for traveling to Egypt: the answer is YES. You must apply for a visa to enter the country, in addition to having a passport valid for more than 6 months. How? In three ways: on arrival, electronic visa or with a specialized agency. You can obtain it upon arrival at the airport for approximately $25 USD, or request it online through the official portal of the Egyptian government before your trip. Please check with the Egyptian embassy in your country for specific details on visa requirements.
Other basic requirements include a passport with at least six months validity from the date of entry into the country. In addition, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it may be necessary to present a negative PCR test carried out within 72 hours prior to arrival.
Always remember to check for the most up-to-date information before your trip!

Who can travel to Egypt  as a tourist?
Regarding vaccinations, the Egyptian government does not specifically require any to enter the country, but it is always advisable to be up to date with universal vaccinations such as Covid, tetanus, measles, etc. Check with your doctor before the trip. If you come from a country where yellow fever is found, you will need to present a vaccination certificate.

  • Try the local food, but DO NOT DRINK TAP WATER!
  • Be patient with local sellers
  • Before traveling it is always advisable to review history, and in Egypt it is even more interesting.
  • As you know, Egypt is a Muslim country, and alcohol is prohibited. But you can have a beer or a cocktail in the hotels and on the cruise itself, even Egyptian brands.

The weather in Egypt. What is the best season to travel?

As the cradle of ancient civilization and a popular tourist destination, Egypt is known for its mostly sunny climate. However, each season brings its own charm and unique experiences. Knowing the Egyptian climate will help you plan the best time to visit this fascinating country.
The climate in Egypt can be divided into two main seasons: a warm one that lasts from May to October and a cooler one that lasts from November to April. However, “hot” and “cold” in Egypt can be very different from other regions.
In the summer months from May to August, temperatures in Egypt can reach high peaks, especially in the south of the country and in desert regions where they can exceed 40°C. In the capital, Cairo, summer temperatures typically range between 30 and 35°C. Although these months can be hot, they're also the sunniest, offering plenty of hours of daylight to explore.
In contrast, temperatures in the winter months from November to February are significantly lower, averaging 15 to 20°C during the day in Cairo. However, the nights can be quite chilly. This is also the time when Egypt's rare rains are most common.
So what is the best time of year to visit Egypt? In general, the months of spring (March and April) and autumn (October and November) are ideal for a trip to Egypt. During these months, the weather is milder, making it more comfortable to explore the Giza Pyramids, Luxor Temple, the city of Aswan, and other popular travel destinations.
If you want to dive in the Red Sea, the weather in Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada is pleasant all year round, although the summer months can be particularly hot.
Remember that no matter what time of year it is important to always bring sunscreen, a hat and water to protect yourself from the sun. Egypt is a destination steeped in history and culture that will captivate you no matter the weather!

What language is spoken in Egypt
In Egypt, the official language is Modern Standard Arabic, although Egyptian Arabic, a local variant, is widely spoken. Among young people and in the tourism sector, English is spoken and, to a lesser extent, French. To facilitate communication, we suggest you learn some basic Arabic phrases, such as greetings or common questions. However, most tourist spots will have English-speaking guides and staff. We recommend the use of translation apps and phrase guides to help with communication in more complex situations. Be sure to always show respect for the local culture and be patient with language barriers.

How to get around in Cairo?
To get around in Cairo it is best to use Uber: it is very cheap. All the journeys cost about 30LE (USD1.5). Extra tip: take a card from your hotel with the address in Arabic… not everyone in Egypt speaks or understands English.
